OFIS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN MAY/JUNE!

The OFIS PTA is partnering with the OF Lunch Services Staff to provide volunteer opportunities – Breakfast Volunteers and Lunch Volunteers. Please read the following descriptions and sign up on the link if you can help.

BREAKFAST VOLUNTEERS – OFIS is in need of volunteers to help inside the school during the breakfast hour. OFIS students are able to receive free breakfast this year and they are greatly taking advantage of it. There are SO many students traveling through the cafeteria in a small amount of time in the morning before school that we are in need of some volunteer help. Volunteers will assist in the cashier line to limit the amount of students picking out the a-la-carte food to be about 3 students at a time. This will help the cashier not get backed up as they mark what food was taken. Other duties may include: restocking the prepackaged food, wiping up tables, assisting students to open packages if needed, and helping the students stay respectful towards the food and other students. LUNCH VOLUNTEERS – OFIS is in need of volunteers to help inside the school during lunch hours. Volunteers will help the OF food service staff by walking around and making sure the students remain socially distant, respectful of their areas, and behaving. In between lunch sessions, volunteers will be helping to wipe down tables and clean floors. THREE volunteers are needed per day. Lunch help is need weekdays from just 11:00am-1:00pm.

It’s FUN-raiser time!!

Things are gonna be “POPPIN” at OFIS soon!! Join OFIS PTA in raising money for our end of year activities and field trips. We are partnering with a local shop – Grand Pacific Popcorn Company – to sell some delicious popcorn. 

You’ll be receiving the fundraiser information from your student soon. The fundraiser runs through Friday, March 18when order forms and money will be due to Olmsted Falls Intermediate School. Orders will be ready before Spring Break.(Order pick up information to come.) We know that many of our Bulldog families look forward to the fundraiser and enjoy selling the items.  However, we have heard loud and clear from other families asking, “Can’t we just make a donation to PTA instead?”

This year again, OFIS PTA is offering families an option of making a monetary donation in lieu of participating in this year’s fundraiser.THE SUGGESTED DONATION AMOUNT IS $25 PER STUDENT.  However, we sincerely appreciate any amount you generously donated.100% of your donation goes directly to OFIS PTA to accomplish all the programs and activities that benefit your student, including:

OFMS PTA Interest Form

Parents/Guardians of current 5th grade students –

It is time for the OF Middle School PTA to identify volunteers who are interested in serving on our Executive Board for the 2022-2023 school year. Since our students will be moving on to 6th grade this is a perfect opportunity to get involved.

OFMS PTA Executive board members must have a student in 6th, 7th or 8th grade for the 2022-2023 school year. They are inviting current OFMS PTA members who are current 6th and 7th grade parents as well as OFIS PTA members who are currently 5th grade parents to express interest in the OFMS PTA executive board for next year.

Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad – a virtual Playhouse Square experience

From OFIS families joining as PTA members and fundraising, PTA is able to bring programs like today’s to our students! They got to have a Playhouse Square experience from the comfort of their classrooms.

A stirring drama with music, “Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad” is a classic tribute to the great American who freed herself and hundreds of others from the bonds of slavery. Her courage helped to change the world. Thank you for helping us share Harriet’s adventurous life with the students in this accurate and deeply moving musical history lesson.

There is still a chance to help PTA! Make sure to join as a member if you haven’t already. Parents, guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors and friends can all join at the $7 membership rate to help support OFIS!

With students in double the space, the school is in need of a little help to supervise them. Volunteers will help the OF food service staff by walking around either location and making sure the students remain socially distant, respectful of their areas, and behaving. In between lunch sessions, volunteers will be helping to wipe down tables and clean floors. FOUR volunteers are needed per day, adding a new FLOATER position. Lunch help is need weekdays from just 11:00am-1:00pm.

CAFETERIA HELP – OFIS is in need of volunteers to help “behind the scenes” in the cafeteria. We are looking for one helper who would be able to assist serving in line, doing dishes, restocking supplies and traying fruits/vegetables. (Middle School is looking for volunteers too if you would like to help or know of anyone please pass this information along.) Server help is need weekdays from just 11:00am-1:00pm.

The district has a posting for Food Service substitute staff. To help provide an experience of what the work entails consider volunteering a day to help “behind the scenes” in the cafeteria. From that experience you may find the work rewarding and beneficial to the district while earning some extra income.
